Ghana’s High Commissioner to Nigeria and ECOWAS, Sadiq Abdulai Abu, has commended United Nigeria Airlines, UNA for what he describes as efficient service on the Accra-Abuja route, while seeking stronger collaboration between the airline and his country’s mission in Nigeria.

The envoy spoke when a delegation from UNA, led by its Director of Administration, Linus Awute, paid him a courtesy visit in Abuja, the nation’s capital.

The visit coincided with his resumption of diplomatic duties in Nigeria, with the Commissioner’s first flight into the country aboard United Nigeria Airlines.

Awute, who conveyed the goodwill of UNA’s Executive Chairman, Professor Obiora Okonkwo, reaffirmed the airline’s commitment to strengthening the longstanding ties between Ghana and Nigeria.

He also highlighted the significant presence of Ghanaian nationals in the airline’s workforce, describing their contributions to its operations and safety as a reflection of the strong people to people relations between both countries.

The High Commissioner, in response, expressed interest in deepening cooperation with the airline and invited UNA to explore partnership opportunities ahead of Ghana’s 70th Independence Anniversary on March 6, 2027.

He also requested consideration for special corporate travel packages for Commission staff and support for official cargo arrangements.

UNA welcomed the proposals, reaffirming its readiness to explore areas of cooperation and leverage its Accra-Abuja connectivity to strengthen diplomatic, economic, business and cultural ties between Ghana and Nigeria.
