The Nenadi Usman led Labour Party has distance itself from a factional national publicity secretary, Abayomi Arabambi who has dragged the West African Examinations Council WAEC, the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC and the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, UNN to court over the Nigeria Democratic Congress, Presidential Candidate, Peter Obi’s academic records.
The Labour Party, in a statement by its national publicity secretary, Ken Asogwa was reacting to claims made by Arabambi in the media calling for the investigation of the former Anambra state Governor’s academic qualifications.
The Labour Party noted that i it chose to remain silent, believing that issuing a reaction will only help to feed the desires of some clout chasers, noting that a statement has now become inevitable following undeserved traction of the report.
The Labour Party noted that Abayomi Arabambi is no longer a member of the Labour Party and therefore can not Institute a legal action on behalf of the Labour Party.

It warned the public not to refer to Arabambi as a labour party chieftain or representative as the matter is currently being reviewed by lawyers for the purpose of determining the appropriate legal and other steps to be taken, including a possible petition to the relevant law enforcement authorities.
On Wednesday, 18th March 2026, the National Executive Council, NEC of the Labour Party had suspended 25 of its members including Abayomi Arabambi for various infractions bordering on anti-party activities.
The suspension was subsequently ratified by the highest decision-making organ of the Labour Party at the National convention on 28th April 2026 and since then no organ of the Party has revisited or reversed the decision concerning the expelled members.
