The Nigerian Army has relocated its 6 Brigade Command, which was formally in Jalingo, the Taraba State capital to Wukari Local Government of the State.
The new arrangement follows the establishment of a new Division of the Nigerian Army in the State and also the need to beef up security at the border between Taraba and Benue States.
The Brigade Commander, Brigadier General Chukwuemeka Akaliro, officially announced the relocation at a visit to the Palace of the Aku-Uka of Wukari Manu Ishaku-Adda in Wukari town.
The traditional leader welcomed the development, and also raised concerns over the recurring attacks and counter-attacks in communities along the Taraba-Benue border.
Brigadier General Akaliro led a road march to the temporary base of the 6 Brigade formation in Wukari.
The Brigade Commander also addressed troops at the Wai-di Shuaibu Cantonment, urging them to remain disciplined and proactive as they begin operations in their new base.
He spoke on a renewed commitment to enhance peace and security operations in volatile areas under his watch.
The Army also assures of stronger collaboration with other security agencies and communities, as it settles in its new base.
