Over 7,000 new employments into the Akwa Ibom State Civil Service have been approved by the State Government.

The Head of the State Civil Service, Elsie Peters, disclosed this at a media conference in Uyo as part of activities marking the 2026 Public Service Week.

As public servants observe the 2026 Public Service Week, the Head of Service, Elsie Peters, says it is a time to thank God and Governor Umo Eno for what she described as positive developments in the State Public Service.

She highlighted the approval of over 7,000 new employments and the settlement of more than 90 billion naira in inherited gratuity arrears.

Other welfare interventions, she said, include the provision of 150 units of free two-bedroom apartments, the annual 13th-month bonus and an increase in pensions.

Peters added that, in terms of incentives, career advancement and general welfare, public servants have witnessed significant improvements under the present administration.

The Head of Service, however, stressed that improved welfare must be matched by discipline, integrity, professionalism, innovation, punctuality and dedication to duty.

She urged public servants to embrace technology, reduce waste and provide efficient and courteous services to citizens.
