Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, has extended to September 30, the deadline for the mandatory registration of commercial tricycles and buses in the State.
The Governor announced the new date while speaking to Journalists after inspecting ongoing projects in Uyo
Gov. Eno while returning from official engagements outside the State, had made stopovers at ongoing projects within the capital city.
While announcing the extension of the registration deadline from the end of August to the end of September, the Governor directed that commercial buses and tricycles be registered, captured, and issued identification numbers and QR codes before they are allowed to operate on the State’s roads.
The mandatory registration exercise is aimed at strengthening security and enabling the authorities to identify and track commercial transport operators.
Part of the projects inspected by the Governor included facilities supporting the State’s 50 new CNG buses, such as the terminal, workshop, and training centre, which are expected to be completed by November, ahead of the December Christmas Unplugged activities.
The Governor Umo Eno was also at the construction site of the ongoing Victor Attah International Airport, the Aviation Village, and Dakkada Luxury Estate.
