Ahead of upcoming political activities in Benue State, rival political parties, candidates, and security agencies have committed to a non-violent electoral process.
At a high-level security summit in Makurdi, key political actors signed a landmark Peace Accord aimed at preventing violence, enforcing the rule of law, and safeguarding lives and property throughout the state.
The objective is to establish a binding commitment to peace before election campaigns heat up.
Organized by the Benue State Police Command, the forum provided a platform for straight talk on security, discipline, and campaign ethics.
The highlight of the event was the official signing of the Peace Accord.
Party representatives publicly pledged to reject political violence, respect rival campaigns, and fully cooperate with law enforcement officers.
The Police Command also pledged complete impartiality.
CP Nwadiogbu assured all political parties of equal security coverage, provided campaign organizers, and ensure that security agencies are informed ahead of planned rallies and public events.
The Benue State Police Command appealed to party supporters and the general public to uphold the spirit of the Peace Accord, stressing that maintaining peace is a collective responsibility for a credible political process.
