Rivers United Football Club resumed their domestic campaign with a two-nil victory over Warri Wolves in a rescheduled Matchday Three NPFL encounter, following their elimination from the CAF Champions League last Sunday.
Both goals were scored in either half, as the Finidi George-tutored lads took advantage of their chances and missed a few, unlike in their continental clash against San Pedro, where they missed an avalanche of scoring opportunities.
Speaking after the match, the Assistant Coach of Rivers United, Yemi Olarewaju, who stood in for Finidi George, stated that the players are mentally refocused and ready to deliver domestically following their disappointment on the continent.
On the opposing side, Warri Wolves Coach Hassan Abdallah expressed confidence that his team will pick up momentum by Matchday Four, noting that the squad is steadily adapting to his tactical philosophy.
Rivers United will look to maintain this winning momentum when they travel to Lafia to face Nasarawa United in an away fixture this Sunday.
