In a gesture of compassion and solidarity, the Commissioner of Police in Niger State, CP Adamu Elleman, has disbursed over ₦35.6 million to more than 50 families of police officers who died in active service.
The presentation, held at the Police Command Headquarters in Dutsen-Kura, Minna, was part of the Inspector-General of Police’s Group Life Assurance Scheme, a welfare initiative championed by IGP Olatunji Disu to support personnel and their families.
Addressing the beneficiaries, CP Elleman described the occasion as a solemn reminder of the sacrifices made by the fallen officers.
He expressed deep sympathy, assuring the families that their loved ones’ service and sacrifice “are appreciated and will never be forgotten.”
CP Elleman emphasised that the financial support was intended to ease hardship, not replace the irreplaceable loss, and urged the families to use the funds wisely in honour of their loved ones.
The Commissioner further assured the families of continued support from the Command, encouraging them to see the police institution as their home. He wished them safe travels back to their destinations after the event.
This initiative underscores the Nigeria Police Force’s renewed commitment to welfare reforms, prioritising the well-being of officers, both serving and retired, and their dependants.
