The collapse of a Mining Pit in Gantu Community of Bali Local Government Area in Central Taraba State, has left at least 20 people Dead.
Although reports still remain sketchy on details of the incident, Gantu community has been one of the communities known for illegal mining activities in Taraba State.
No substantive statement has been officially released with regards to the development, as security agencies in Jalingo the State capital are yet to issue official statement on the incident.
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps says it has received reports of the incident and will soon issue a statement.
However, there are reports that a joint Taskforce of security operatives has been mobilized, and is expected to be at the affected mining site.
