Delta state government has assured civil servants in the state that the payment of a 13th month salary will commence immediately governor Sheriff Oborevwori assents to the bill.
This was disclosed by the Commissioner for public information, Charles Aniagwu, during a briefing with journalists on Friday.
Aniagwu explained that the intervention is part of the government’s efforts to cushion effects of the macroeconomic reforms.

He noted that the administration has also embarked on other interventions aimed at enhancing the purchasing power of Deltans, pending full recovery of the economy.
While appreciating the cooperation of the state’s lawmakers over the expedited action on the 13th month salary bill, Aniagwu expressed optimism that the bill will soon be signed into law.
