A suspected pipeline vandalism syndicate operating in Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory has been uncovered, with three suspects arrested and others now being hunted by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps.
The NSCDC says 17 pieces of vandalised NNPC pipeline, a commercial truck and a motorcycle were recovered during the operation in Kwali Area Council.
The arrests followed intelligence on suspected vandalism around petroleum pipeline infrastructure in Kwali Area Council.
FCT Commandant of the NSCDC, Olusola Odumosu, says operatives of the Anti-Vandal Squad, working with local authorities through intelligence sharing, tracked the suspects to the area.
Odumosu says the operation led to the arrest of three suspects and the recovery of 17 pieces of vandalised NNPC pipeline, a commercial truck and a motorcycle.

He warned that those who vandalise public infrastructure and critical national assets for illegal economic gain will face the full weight of the law.
The NSCDC says the operation is not over, as efforts are ongoing to track down other suspected members of the syndicate who remain at large.
