Former Vice President and African Democratic Congress, ADC, Presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has promised to restore fuel subsidy if elected president in 2027.
Atiku made the promise in Akure, the Ondo State capital, during the formal defection of former Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, governorship candidate, Eyitayo Jegede, to the ADC.
Atiku said an ADC-led administration would prioritise the restoration of fuel subsidy and tackle insecurity across the country.

He also criticised the state of the economy, claiming that Nigeria’s position among African economies had declined under the current administration.
Atiku said the ADC would provide an alternative economic direction if elected in 2027.
The defection of Eyitayo Jegede and his supporters marks a major political development for the ADC in Ondo State, as parties intensify mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
