The Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Professor Ahmed Audi, has personally paid a condolence visit to the Emir of Minna, Umar-Farouk Bahago and the families of the 37 persons who died in custody in Niger State.
Professor Audi, during the visit, which coincided with the 7th day prayers for the victims held at the Emir of Minna’s palace, again reassured the victims’ families that the Corps will not shield anyone found culpable, emphasising that justice and transparency will take precedence as he promised to ensure full cooperation with the presidential investigation committee.

He also noted that the Federal Government, under the directive of the Presidency, has constituted a high-powered investigative committee to probe the incident, with which the Corps is fully cooperating, even as the 24 officers involved have been taken into custody to make them fully available for a transparent investigation process.
On behalf of the traditional institution and the families, the Emir of Minna, Umar-Farouk Bahago expressed appreciation to the Commandant General for the swift administrative actions taken, for cooperating with the Presidential committee, and for deeming it fit to personally visit and identify with the community in their moment of grief.
Prayers were offered for the repose of the dead as Professor Audi promised that broader steps are being taken to uncover the truth, and the outcome will be made known to the public soon.
