Pharmacists in Kogi State have called on governments at all levels to improve their remuneration and create an enabling environment for them to showcase their competence and skills in healthcare delivery
The call was made during an event marking World Pharmacist Day in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital.
The leadership also cautioned patients against the dangers of self-medication, urging relevant regulatory authorities to step up supervision and curb the practice to prevent wider, life-threatening medical complications.

Other speakers called on the Kogi state government to grant tax reliefs to pharmacists and ensure their broader inclusion in the state’s health insurance scheme.
Coming at a time when health challenges and the skyrocketing cost of medical care have become pressing concerns for citizens across the country, stakeholders insist that empowering pharmacists is a vital step toward achieving universal health coverage.
