Residents of Ugwueke community in Abia State have been left stranded and homeless after several days of torrential downpours that triggered flooding in the community, submerging homes and property worth millions of Naira.
The community is now appealing for support and calling on both the state and federal governments to come to their aid as they struggle with the impact of the flood.
The devastating flood triggered by days of torrential rainfall left in its trail destruction and displacement of people, with several houses submerged.
Village source confirmed the death of one person, simply identified as Ejiuwa, who lost his life while returning to the village from the market.

Over 300 persons have been rendered homeless, while their economic livelihood, including farmlands, farm produce, and livestock, have been washed away by the devastating flood.
The community is now appealing to the federal government through the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, to urgently mobilize relief material and other medical aid to avert the impending humanitarian and health crisis in the community.
