Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC in Delta State, South-South Nigeria has declared an indefinite strike following the death of the Deputy Director in the state’s Ministry of Secondary Education, Unity Adeda.
NLC’s decision is coming on the heels of the government’s announcement of the constitution of an administrative panel of inquiry to unravel the circumstances surrounding the death of Unity Adeda.
According to the Secretary to the State Government, SSG, Kingsley Emu, the panel has been given two weeks to complete its assignment.
The statement by the SSG also added that the government deeply commiserates with the family of the deceased and the entire Delta State civil servants.
Meanwhile, the Police have arrested one of the suspects linked to the death of Adeda, following an incident at the office of the Commissioner for Secondary Education, Kingsley Ashibogwu, in Asaba.

The suspect, identified as Lucky Adoh, was arrested after the State Police Command received complaints surrounding the incident. Police said a manhunt is ongoing for two other persons allegedly connected to the incident, identified as Enos Attah and Oputa Okestine.
The Command said it is aware of allegations that the deceased was beaten to death by aides to the Commissioner but stressed that the circumstances surrounding her death are still being investigated.
According to the Command, the investigation will examine all available evidence, including relevant video footage, eyewitness accounts, medical records, and the actions of all persons connected with the incident.
The police said the investigation is aimed at establishing the facts and ensuring that anyone found culpable is brought to justice in accordance with the law.
