Troops of the Joint Task Force Northwest, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have neutralised a suspected terrorist, recovered an AK-47 rifle and ammunition, and rescued six attempted kidnap victims in separate operations across Sokoto and Zamfara States.
In a statement issued by the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force Northwest, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, the operation took place on September 26, 2026.
In Sokoto State, troops of Sector 2 acted on credible intelligence indicating the presence of a suspected terrorist camp in Gudu Local Government Area.
The troops swiftly moved to the location, where they encountered and neutralised a suspected terrorist.
An AK-47 rifle, ammunition, a foreign military uniform, as well as various tools and clothing items were recovered from the scene.
In Zamfara State, troops of Sector 2 responded to information about an attempted abduction of members of the Sarkin Samari’s family in Tsafe Local Government Area.
Upon arrival, the troops engaged the terrorists with effective fire, forcing them to retreat into nearby bushes.
The operation resulted in the successful rescue of six attempted kidnap victims.
The Theatre Command says the successes demonstrate the commitment and professionalism of troops of Joint Task Force Northwest, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, in protecting lives and property across the region.
