Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, says his administration has positioned the State as one of the fastest-growing economies in Nigeria.
He spoke during a media parley with members of the Nigeria Guild of Editors, as activities marking the Guild’s 22nd conference in Enugu came to a close.
It has been a busy week for members of the Nigerian Guild of Editors, who have been conferencing in the Coal City for several days.
And as part of a wrap-up, the Editors on Saturday took time to see some of the projects executed by the Enugu State Government.
From the Smart School at Owo to the newly built International Hospital, Smart City, tourist sites and other signature projects, the visit gave the Editors an opportunity to see the ongoing transformation for themselves.
After the tour, it was time to sit down with the Governor, share their observations, raise concerns and commend what they found impressive.
For Gbenga Arulegba of AIT, some of the developments are impressive, but the bigger question is whether they can be sustained beyond the present administration.
Governor Mbah says one of the major changes under his administration has been the revival and productive use of previously dormant State assets, which he says has helped strengthen the State’s economy.
And after a week of discussions around democracy, elections and the future of journalism, the Editors had a chance to unwind at a dinner hosted by the Enugu State Government.
A fitting end to a busy conference, as the news managers head home with lessons from Enugu and another election season ahead.
