Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, says the newly elected Local Government Areas chairmen must align their priorities with the broader development agenda of the State.
He spoke on Wednesday while swearing in the 17 elected Council chairmen and their deputies at the Government House Banquet Hall in Enugu.
Exactly two years after the previous batch of Local Government Areas chairmen took their oath of office, a new set is taking their turn.
This time, Governor Peter Mbah has a message for them: winning the election is not the destination.
He told the chairmen not to see their victory as a trophy, but as a mandate to deliver the promises they made to the people during the campaign.

The Governor also urged them to remain accessible to their constituents and build reliable databases that can help government identify the needs of their communities, particularly as the State targets eradication of poverty in the next four years.

For the new council chairmen, the task now moves from campaign promises to implementation, with a pledge to introduce programmes and policies that will bring positive changes to their respective communities.
