The African Democratic Congress, ADC, has faulted the Federal Government over its promise to establish an additional 500 CNG stations across the country to reduce transportation costs.
The party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, challenged the government to show Nigerians where the new stations are located and how the initiative has reduced the cost of transportation.
Atiku was reacting to President Bola Tinubu’s Nigeria at 66 nationwide broadcast during a media conference in Abuja.
The former Vice President said Nigerians are yet to see the promised CNG stations, while rising costs continue to make food, transportation and other basic needs difficult to afford.
Atiku also called for the rule of law to be applied fairly in anti corruption and judicial matters.
He questioned the continued detention of former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El Rufai, and other political actors, saying delays in resolving their cases raise questions about due process which the authorities must address.
The ADC presidential candidate also challenged President Tinubu to leave the Presidential Villa and visit markets to personally assess the prices of food and other basic commodities.
He said such visits would give the President firsthand experience of the economic pressures facing Nigerians.
Atiku urged the President to focus less on attacking the opposition and more on measures to reduce the cost of food, transportation and other basic needs.
