Authorities of the Nigeria Police have refuted the report by the Accident Investigation Bureau (AIB) that its Helicopter, Bell 429 5NMDA, flying from Abuja to Bauchi on Tuesday, crashed at the sir Tafawa Balewa International Airport.
In a statement signed by the Force Public Relations Officer Commissioner of Police Frank Mba, the ill fated helicopter rather crash landed.
The statement read in part that ” The aircraft did not crash as being reported in some sections of the media and none of the occupants sustained any injury whatsoever.

The Police spokesmann added that, the aircraft, which was flown by one of the best Police Pilots, was professionally safe-landed with minor damage on the rear rotor as a result of obstacle at the landing spot.
Earlier, the AIB had reported how it was notified by the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) about an accident involving a Police helicopter in Bauchi state around 7:30pm last Wednesday.
The NPF Helicopter had departed Abuja at 16:54 for Bauchi with six passengers on board, maintaining 5, 500 ft.
Neither the aviation authorities nor the Police has given clear information on the cause of the accident.
