The Federal Government says the maiden National Youth Confab will take young Nigerians beyond social media conversations to the decision making table, with their ideas expected to shape policies and government action.
With the 2027 general election approaching, attention is also on whether the voices from the Confab will translate into measurable results and place young people in governance and decision making firmly on the agenda.
The conference comes two years after President Bola Tinubu promised young Nigerians a national platform to be heard.
Young Nigerians from across the country are now gathered to put their concerns and ideas before government with the conference theme “The Next Generation: Nigeria, Crafting Solutions, Owning the Future.”

Jobs, education, technology, security, social inclusion and governance are expected to drive the discussions.
Youth Development Minister, Ayodele Olawande, says their ideas must find their way into government policy. For the Minister, the real test comes after the conference.
Other speakers want young Nigerians directly involved in decisions about the country, with participants challenged to move beyond complaints, to bringing solutions to the table and to use their voices beyond social media and political activities.
The government has promised that recommendations from the Confab will translate into policy and action. For this maiden conference, the measure of success will be what changes after the talking ends.
