President Bola Tinubu has expressed deep sadness over the crash of a Nigerian Air Force ATR-42 jet near a naval base in Igbokoda, Ondo State.
The aircraft was on a routine mission from Benin to Lagos when the accident occurred, involving 25 passengers and seven crew members.
According to a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga on Monday, President Tinubu has directed the Nigerian Air Force to immediately commence a thorough investigation into the cause of the crash.
The President also commended the Air Force for activating search and rescue operations, as well as first responders and the Ondo State Government for their swift response.
He condoled with the families of those involved and assured the Nigerian Air Force of his administration’s continued support.
