Residents of Agbeji Community in Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State have protested against the construction of an alleged mortuary close to public school and residential buildings.
The protesters cite health and environmental concerns, while the landowner insists he has the right to develop the property.
The protesters say they are not opposed to the construction of a mortuary but object to its location, which they consider too close to homes and the school.
But the landowner disagrees, insisting the property is his and that he has the right to develop it, while pledging to comply with relevant regulations.

They appealed to relevant authorities to intervene and stop the project until proper consideration is given to the safety and well-being of residents and pupils.
The community is now awaiting the intervention of the appropriate government agencies to determine whether the proposed mortuary meets the required standards and whether its location is suitable for the area.
