The Federal Government is stepping up performance monitoring across MDAs to enforce accountability and improve service delivery, in line with President Bola Tinubu’s zero-tolerance stance on non-performance
The Director-General of the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council, PEBEC, Zahrah Mustapha Audu, reinforced this position at an engagement on MDA data collection and harmonisation, where she presented findings from the Business Environment Enhancement Programme Accelerator.
The assessment showed that sixteen MDAs had fully implemented the specific reforms covered by the review.
However, recent mystery shopping exercises revealed a decline in responsiveness after active monitoring ended, raising concerns about sustaining reform compliance.

Addressing heads of MDAs, the PEBEC Director-General said monitoring would continue through mystery shopping, a live performance tracker, and the end-of-year Business Facilitation Act compliance ranking.
PEBEC says it will also use digital tracking and data-driven assessments to strengthen transparency, close service delivery gaps, and improve services to businesses and citizens.
