Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, says his administration will commence palliative works on roads and drainage infrastructure in the Government Reserved Area of Benin City after the rainy season to tackle flooding and ease movement.
Governor Okpebholo made this known at the Government House in Benin City while receiving the Chief Judge of Edo State, Justice Daniel Okungbowa, and other judges who paid him a courtesy visit ahead of activities marking the commencement of the 2026/2027 legal year.
The erosion ravaging parts of the Benin City GRA and the deplorable condition of roads in the area are expected to receive government intervention, as Governor Monday Okpebholo announces plans to tackle flooding and repair failed sections of the roads.
The governor disclosed this while receiving the Chief Judge of Edo State, Justice Daniel Okungbowa, and other judges at the Government House. Okpebholo said palliative works on roads in the GRA would commence after the rainy season.

The governor also commended the judiciary for its working synergy with the executive, disclosing that the State Executive Council had approved the purchase of 33 vehicles to replace the old ones currently being used by judges.
Residents of the GRA will be looking forward to the planned facelift of the area under the Okpebholo administration, particularly improvements to roads and drainage infrastructure to address flooding and ease movement.
