Troops of the Joint Task Force, North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA have overrun a Lakurawa terrorist enclave in Waria Forest, Tangaza Local Government Area of Sokoto State, neutralising several terrorists and recovering weapons and five motorcycles.
The operation, conducted on October 15, 2026, was part of ongoing military efforts to dismantle terrorist hideouts and restore security across the region.
According to a statement by the Media Information Officer of Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, troops of Sector Two advanced through identified terrorist enclaves along Alela, Bilange and Kandam villages towards Waria Forest, where they made contact with the terrorists.
During the ensuing firefight, the troops reportedly overwhelmed the terrorists with superior firepower, forcing them to abandon their positions and flee deeper into the forest.

The statement says the troops pursued the fleeing terrorists, neutralising several of them in the process.
Further exploitation of the area led to the destruction of the terrorists’ camps and life-support structures, while weapons and five motorcycles were recovered.
The military says troops have maintained a strong operational presence in the area, sustaining clearance operations to deny terrorists freedom of movement and enhance the security of surrounding communities.
The Theatre Command says the operation underscores its commitment to dismantling terrorist enclaves, denying criminal elements safe havens and restoring lasting peace and security across the Joint Operations Area.
