Community development experts have urged young Nigerians to embrace volunteerism as a way to develop skills, advance their careers and contribute to national development.
They spoke at an event in Abuja themed “Be the Change, Lead the Future.”
Speakers said community service offers young people opportunities to gain experience, develop leadership skills and help address social and economic challenges.
They encouraged young Nigerians to move beyond expectations of assistance and take an active role in improving their communities.
Other speakers urged the Federal Government to support volunteers and recognise their contributions to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
Participants agreed that young people have a role in shaping Nigeria’s future by leading through service and contributing their time, skills and ideas to community development.
