Nicolas Jackson was the hero as Aston Villa handed Manchester City their first defeat of the 2026-2027 English Premier League (EPL) season, winning 2-1 at Villa Park.
Jackson put the hosts ahead in the sixth minute, giving City an early setback as Villa went into the break with a one-nil lead.
Erling Haaland restored parity seven minutes into the second half, raising hopes of a City comeback.
But jackson struck again on the hour mark to restore Villa’s advantage and seal a memorable 2-1 victory in front of a capacity crowd.
The result ended City’s perfect start after eight matches, but they remain top of the table.
