The Plateau State Police Command has launched an operation to rid the state’s hinterlands and rocky formations of criminal elements allegedly using the areas as hideouts and bases for attacks on residents.
The Commissioner of Police, Ayodeji Faniyan, disclosed this while briefing journalists during an on-the-spot assessment of the operation.
The operation, codenamed Operation Baa Wurin Ta’adanci, which translates to “No Place for Terrorism,” is aimed at flushing out criminals taking advantage of the state’s vast hinterlands and rocky terrain to evade security operatives and launch attacks on law-abiding citizens.
Commissioner of Police, Ayodeji Faniyan, says the operation is part of efforts to deny criminal elements safe havens and strengthen security across Plateau State.
The Police Commissioner says the operation will be intensive and extended to border communities, with plans to collaborate with police commands in neighbouring states to track down and apprehend fleeing suspects.
Faniyan also assures residents that officers involved in the operation have been directed to respect the fundamental human rights of citizens while carrying out their duties.
He says the command remains committed to sustaining the operation to improve public safety and prevent criminal activities across the state.
