Africa Independent Television, AIT’s broadcaster, Ruth Onoshiorena Obozeghie, popularly known as ‘Rena, has won the Amiable Presenter of the Year award at the Edo Icons Awards 2026.
The award recognises her work in broadcasting and her connection with audiences through her on-air presentation.
Rena is a co-host of AIT’s flagship breakfast programme, Kakaaki: The African Voice, and the lead presenter and Creative Director of Kakaaki Social, where she’s fondly called ‘Asa Socials’.
With 12 years of experience in broadcast journalism, she has built a career spanning news presentation, programme production, media engagement, corporate communications, public speaking and event hosting.
The Edo Icons Award celebrates daughters, sons and friends of Edo state, who are making notable contributions across different fields in Nigeria and beyond.
Receiving the recognition, ‘Rena expressed appreciation to the organisers, describing the award as an encouragement to keep raising the bar in her work.
She dedicated the honour to God, Management and Staff of DAAR Communications plc and everyone who has supported her journey in broadcasting.
‘Rena says the recognition is a reminder that the connection between a presenter and the audience remains at the heart of broadcasting.
