Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, has challenged former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar to account for his eight years in office under former President Olusegun Obasanjo. Wike said Obasanjo’s damning verdict on his former deputy should be considered as Nigerians assess Atiku’s 2027 presidential ambition.
Wike spoke on Thursday at a Rainbow Coalition meeting in Oyigbo Local Government Area of Rivers State, South-South Nigeria.
The FCT Minister also said former Rivers State governor, Rotimi Amaechi’s entry into the African Democratic Congress, ADC worsened the party’s presidential ticket, insisting that the opposition has nothing to offer Nigerians
The Minister was received in Oyigbo Local Government Area by political leaders of the Rainbow Coalition, traditional rulers, stakeholders, women, youths and supporters.
Addressing the gathering, Wike questioned the records of major opposition figures ahead of the 2027 general election, urging Nigerians to scrutinise their performance in previous public offices before entrusting them with leadership.
Speaking on behalf of the community, the Zonal Director of the Post Primary Schools Board, Chimereze Nworgo, commended Wike’s contributions as Rivers State Governor and reaffirmed the community’s support for President Bola Tinubu’s second-term bid.
The FCT Minister said continued support for Tinubu’s re-election would give the President’s reforms more time to stabilise and deliver benefits to Nigerians.
