Police have arrested a 40-year-old man, Davou Dachung, over the alleged killing of his wife, Jessica Davou, in Vwang District of Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State, North-Central Nigeria.

The police also say three locally fabricated firearms and five live cartridges were recovered during the investigation.
The Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, SP Alfred Alabo, disclosed this in a statement issued in Jos.

According to the police, the incident occurred on October 18, 2026, at the couple’s residence in Haita Fwil Village, Vwang District, where the suspect allegedly shot his wife in the left side of her chest with a locally fabricated firearm.
The victim was rushed to a hospital for medical attention but was later confirmed dead.

The police say a report of the incident was lodged at the Kaduna Vom Police Division on October 20, prompting the Commissioner of Police, Ayodeji Faniyan, to direct the Divisional Police Officer, DPO to mobilise personnel to the scene, leading to the arrest of the suspect.

Further investigations by detectives of the State Violent Crimes Response Unit reportedly led to the recovery of additional weapons, bringing the total number of locally fabricated firearms recovered to three, alongside five live cartridges.

The Command says the case is currently under investigation at the State Criminal Investigation Department, CID, after which the suspect will be charged to court upon conclusion of investigations.
