Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo

Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has distributed relief materials to traders affected by the recent Oluku Market fire disaster, promising to rebuild the market to a modern standard.

Speaking during the presentation of relief materials provided by the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, and the Edo State Emergency Management Agency, EDOSEMA, the governor assured the affected traders that his administration would not abandon them in their moment of need.

This is Governor Monday Okpebholo’s second visit to Oluku Market since the fire disaster occurred on October 15, 2026.

While distributing food items and other relief materials to the affected traders, the governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to rebuilding the market to a modern standard and supporting those who lost their shops and goods.

Earlier, the Executive Secretary of the Edo State Emergency Management Agency, Jerry Idahosa, said the agency would collaborate with NEMA and other stakeholders to monitor the affected traders’ recovery.

He urged beneficiaries to make judicious use of the relief materials.

Some traders expressed appreciation to the governor and other stakeholders for the intervention, saying the assistance would help ease their hardship following the disaster.

The Okpebholo administration has commenced the process of rebuilding Oluku Market, which was recently destroyed by fire.
