The Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, has cautioned the judiciary against allowing itself to be used to undermine democracy following a Federal High Court judgment nullifying the David Mark-led leadership of the African Democratic Congress, ADC.
In a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director, the party expressed concern that the judgment could weaken opposition politics and create uncertainty ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The NDC alleged that the pattern of recent court judgments raises concerns about possible attempts to prevent the ADC from participating in the forthcoming elections.

The party urged the ADC to immediately appeal the judgment and called on the appellate court to grant an accelerated hearing in the interest of democratic participation.
It also called on the judiciary to protect its independence, impartiality and integrity, stressing that Nigeria’s democracy must be strengthened rather than undermined.
