While the Africa Democratic Congress, ADC, is grappling with a leadership crisis at the national level following a recent court judgment, the party’s Ogun State chapter appears determined to press ahead with its preparations for the 2027 general elections.
The party has inaugurated its 2027 General Election Campaign Council, declaring its readiness to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for political control of Ogun State.
Despite the uncertainty surrounding the national leadership of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, following the recent Federal High Court judgment, the party’s Ogun State chapter is looking ahead to the 2027 general elections.
At the inauguration of its 2027 General Election Campaign Council, the party unveiled a campaign structure designed to strengthen its grassroots presence across the three senatorial districts and twenty local government areas of the state.
The council is expected to coordinate mobilisation and build support for the party’s presidential, governorship and legislative candidates.
In an address read at the ceremony, Ogun State ADC Chairman, Patrick Oluwafemi Soluade, described the inauguration as a significant milestone in the party’s political journey.
He said the campaign council would serve as the driving force behind the party’s anticipated electoral victory, expressing confidence in its capacity to dislodge the ruling APC.

Soluade also presented the ADC as a credible alternative to the existing political order, arguing that Nigerians were yearning for a leadership capable of addressing hunger, insecurity, economic hardship and what he described as unfulfilled electoral promises.
However, with the national leadership crisis now casting a shadow over the party’s political future, questions remain on how the Ogun ADC will navigate the unfolding situation and sustain its preparations for the 2027 elections.
Whether its newly inaugurated campaign structure can translate its political ambition into electoral strength remains to be seen.
