A strategic meeting of the Democratic Leadership Alliance (DLA) was held yesterday, 6th November 2026, in Asaba, Delta State, under the leadership of the National Chairman of the party, Barr. Samuel M. Memeh (Esq.).
The meeting brought together party executives, candidates and other critical stakeholders to deliberate on the growth, unity and strategic direction of the party ahead of the forthcoming political activities in Delta State.
In his address, the National Chairman called for unity, cooperation and mutual understanding among party members.

He urged all aspirants to demonstrate courage, strengthen their grassroots connections and intensify engagement with the people, emphasising that the growth of the party depends on collective commitment and active participation at all levels.
Also speaking at the meeting, the DLA governorship candidate, Hon. Gavin Omoidonor Freeborn, commended the National Chairman for his efforts and contributions towards building and strengthening the party.
Hon. Gavin further introduced two major pressure groups Youth o clock and Gavino movement to the party leadership, highlighting their importance to the party’s expansion, mobilisation and inclusive political structure.
The National Chairman and the party leadership welcomed the groups and gave assurances of working with them, with a commitment to integrating their members into the existing party structure to promote inclusiveness and broader participation.
In his remarks, Hon. Gavin called on the youths to rise to the responsibility of leadership and prepare themselves to actively participate in shaping the political future of Delta State.

He stressed that leadership and political relevance require courage, commitment, organisation and responsibility.
He further observed that power is not simply handed over but must be pursued through legitimate democratic participation, active engagement and the people’s mandate.
However, hon Gavin made it clear that the struggle for political leadership must never be pursued through violence, intimidation or lawlessness, but through constitutional and democratic means.
On campaign conduct, Hon. Gavin strongly advocated for peaceful and issue-based political engagement. He made it clear that he does not support abusive campaigns, personal attacks or the unnecessary disparagement of political opponents.
According to him, political campaigns should be centred on ideas, vision, policies, development and the future of the people rather than insults and hostility.
He emphasised that anyone engaging in political evangelism or promoting his candidacy and the Democratic Leadership Alliance must do so with maturity, respect, discipline and a sense of responsibility.
The meeting further reinforced the importance of unity, strategic collaboration, grassroots mobilisation and the inclusion of different groups in building a stronger political platform.

As the Democratic Leadership Alliance continues to strengthen its structures and expand its reach across Delta State and Nigeria, the call remains for all members, stakeholders, pressure groups and supporters to work together in an atmosphere of mutual respect, discipline and democratic commitment.
Together, let us build a political culture founded on unity, inclusion, peaceful participation and the collective aspiration for a better Nigeria.
