The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, NIPR is calling on young Nigerians to deploy their influence on digital platforms towards promoting responsible communication, national development and a positive image of the country.
The call was made in Abuja during the launch of the World Public Relations Forum, WPRF Youth Digital Campaign Programme, organised ahead of the 2026 World Public Relations Forum, with the President of the Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communication Management, Professor Justin Green leading the engagement.
With social media increasingly shaping public opinion, influencing behaviour and defining how societies are perceived, the programme placed young people at the centre of efforts to promote ethical and responsible digital engagement.
Participants were challenged to move beyond the pursuit of online popularity and use their platforms to educate, inform, inspire and contribute to positive social change.

They were also encouraged to uphold respect, verify information before sharing, accommodate differing opinions and resist the spread of misinformation and harmful content.
For the NIPR, engaging young people is a strategic part of building a culture of responsible communication, particularly at a time when digital platforms have become powerful tools for shaping public perception and national reputation.
A major highlight of the gathering was the recognition of NIPR’s growing international standing, with Professor Green announcing the Institute’s emergence as the 2026 Global Public Relations Association of the Year for the second consecutive time.
The recognition, which makes NIPR the first institute globally ton achieve the feat, was described as a significant accomplishment for Nigeria’s public relations profession.
The campaign also reinforces the objectives of the forthcoming World Public Relations Forum, scheduled for November 15 to 21 in Abuja, under the theme, Responsible Communication: The Voice of the World.
The forum, expected to attract about 3,000 delegates from 126 countries, will provide a global platform for discussions on ethical communication, trust, leadership, technology and the future of the public relations profession.
