Niger State Government has confirmed that there are currently five Polio cases in four local government areas of the state, saying that the cases are through environmental and human sampling.
The State Immunisation Officer, Abubakar Kpantu, who made this known, said routine and reactive vaccination was carried out to ensure that children in the communities are safe.
According to him, the five cases were detected in four LGAs. For the three human cases, two are from Mariga LGA and one from Magama LGA. The other two cases are environmental, with one from Chanchaga LGA and the other from Bida LGA.
He added that community engagements have been carried out within affected communities. “All of these are as a result of poor routine immunisation. The virus is here, and it is as a result of a high level of non-compliance.
