The Emir of Kano, His Royal Highness Khalifa Muhammadu Sanusi II, has urged Nigerians not to be swayed by the false promises of politicians, calling on the electorate to make informed choices and vote for credible leaders who will work in the interest of the people.
The Emir made the call in Gusau, where he was a special guest at the commissioning of a newly constructed mosque built by Governor Dauda Lawal as part of activities marking Zamfara State’s 30th anniversary.
Speaking with journalists after the prayer, the Emir commended the infrastructural development taking place in Zamfara State under the administration of Governor Lawal.
He also called on electoral institutions to provide a level playing field ahead of the 2027 general elections, stressing the need to allow Nigerians to freely elect leaders of their choice.
Governor Lawal, in his remarks, emphasised the importance of providing a conducive environment for worship, noting that responsible leadership must recognise and support the spiritual needs of the people.
The commissioning is expected to further strengthen religious activities and provide a suitable place of worship for the people, while reinforcing the importance of good leadership and moral values in society.
