Daura Emirate distance itself from Rotimi Amaechi’s 2023 presidential ambition

The Daura Emirate Council in Katsina State, North-West Nigeria has debunked claims in some quarters, that the turbanning of the Transport Minister and former Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi as Dan Amanar of Daura is political.

Emir of Daura, Umar Faruk who said this while turbanning Amaechi said, the title Dan Amanar Daura, which means the trustworthy son of Daura, is based on his track record, humility and leadership personality traits, exhibited over the years.

He added that the Emirate while noting the contributions made by Amaechi to national development, said they are open to bestow such title on any Nigerian that works for the unity of Nigeria.

The turbanning ceremony was a gathering of who is who in Nigeria, who trooped into the ancient city of Daura, in honour of Amaechi who is reported to have a presidential ambition ahead of the 2023 general elections.

Meanwhile, about 500 passengers who were heading to Daura for the turbanning ceremony were stranded at the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport, Abuja, due to to bad weather condition.

Most of them were seen hanging around the Private Jet Wing of the Abuja airport hoping that the told poor weather condition will improve.

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency, NiMET had earlier warned about the possibility of a deterioration in horizontal visibility occasioned by a noticeable advected of dust from its source of origin in Faya-Lageau in Republic of Chad.

The dust arrival is expected to deteriorate horizontal visibility over 10 northern states in the country.

Agency’s Central Forecast Office, in a statement said fresh dust has been raised over Faya-Lageau in Chad Republic and is currently being advected towards Nigeria, adding that its arrival in the country is expected to deteriorate horizontal visibility over 10 northern states in the country to values of less than or equal to 1000 metres. States to be affected for the next 24 hours include Borno, Yobe, Jigawa, Gombe, Taraba, Adamawa, Bauchi, Katsina, Zamfara and Kano.
