The Coalition of Northern Groups wants the establishment of community based security outfits that will help the conventional security agencies to address the deteriorating security situation in the country.
The Coordinator of the groups, Balarabe Rufai, stated this during a media conference in Abuja on the renewed incessant killing of innocent citizens in northern states and the country at large.
Rufai noted that it is disheartening to see innocent citizens constantly being slaughtered and many others kidnapped with no respite yet in sight.
The coordinator also called on government to rescind its suspension of freedom FM radio and other media organizations as such action amounts
to infringement on their freedom of expression.
Many innocent citizens have been killed by bandits and other criminal elements in four northern states of Sokoto, Zamfara, Katsina and Kaduna in the past two weeks.
