As various political actors across Nigeria throw their hat in the ring ahead of the 2023 Presidential Elections, the decision of former President, Goodluck to remain silent on his ambition has been interpreted in diverse ways around the country.

While a cross section of residents in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State Capital described his decision to remain mute as a display of political maturity, others say it has created a lack of direction and political uncertainty amongst politicians in the South-south geopolitical zone.

Although speculations of his presidential ambition and preferred political platform have been widespread, Jonathan has waved off such talks as rather premature.

According to analysts, if eventually he decides to contest, regardless of political party, Jonathan will have to squeeze out water from stone to convince voters in Southern Nigeria why he would be a better option compared to others from the same region, who are gunning for the presidency on a fresh slate.

Meanwhile, Presidential Aspirants have been holding endless hours of political consultations in a bid to get the upper hand, even as the political climate remains hazy.
