Zamfara State House of Assembly says, it has served the Deputy Governor, Mahadi Gusau, impeachment notice, through the Secretary To the State Government.

The Chairman House Committee On Information, Shamsudeen Bosko, said this while briefing journalists on the position of the state’s Assembly over the planned impeachment of the Deputy Governor.

He vowed that nothing will stop the state lawmakers from removing the Deputy Governor, since he has been found wanting on three allegations, and they want to enthrone someone who will work for the interest of the state.

The allegations included breach of the constitution, abuse of office and financial fraud.

The lawmakers claimed that the Deputy Governor contravened sections 190 and 193 subsections (1) (2) A, B and C of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended).

Bosko also claimed that the Zamfara State House of Assembly has satisfied the requirements of section 188 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended), which says, one to two-thirds of the legislators of the whole house can endorse impeachment.

However, the Principal Private Secretary To The Deputy Governor, Umar Gusau told ait.live that the Office of the Deputy Governor did not receive any communication from the House.

He rather said that the Deputy Governor through his lawyer, sent a reminder to the State Assembly, of the subsisting court order, which had earlier restrained the lawmakers from going ahead with their impeachment plans.

The relationship between the Deputy Governor, Mahadi Gusau and his boss Governor Bello Mohammed, became strained after Bello , joined the All Progressives Congress, APC, last year, while his deputy remained in the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, with the Chief of Staff, Colonel Bala Mande retired, and other PDP stalwarts.
