Terrorists kill DPO, injures army commander in Jibya, Katsina

Terrorists operating in the Jibiya Local Government Area of Katsina State have killed the Divisional Police Officer in Charge of the area, Deputy Superintendent Abdullahi Rano and injured an army Commander, Lieutenant Colonel Masoyi in a fresh attack.

The attack was said to have occured at Magama Jibiya this early Wednesday morning at about 2:am left another person dead.

Confirming the attack to ait.live, the deputy village head of Mazanya Abubakar Sani said, the attack started when terrorists in their numbers armed with sophisticated weapons stormed the village while shooting sporadically.

ait.live gathered that, upon arrival the terrorists visited the house of one Haliru Mai Bakin Mai and abducted his wife.

The source added that, the Divisional Police Officer, Deputy Superintendent Abdullahi Rano who led a reinforcement of the police and the Nigerian Army was shot and killed instantly while the army Commander, Lieutenant Masoyi was injured on the leg in the process.

Efforts to reach the Police spokesman Superintendent Gambo Isah and the 17 Brigade spokesman Lieutenant Tamuno Sinivie army were not successful as calls put through were not responded to.

As at the time of filing this report, the situation is calm at Magama Jibiya as Security personnel have been deployed to the area to ensure law and order.
