Media practitioners have been urged to give priority to health programmes on their platforms to create awareness among viewers as part of strategy to enable citizens understand the need for healthy life style.
The advise formed parts of the resolutions reached at the just concluded three day media review meeting on malaria, Tuberculosis and Covid19 held in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital.
Journalists across Oyo state recently gathered in the state capital, to review their activities and the journey so far in their quest to enlighten society on Covid19, Malaria and Tuberculosis.
The meeting brainstormed on effective ways to educate the populace on how best to reduce mortality rates in the state .
Tuberculosis which has also been reported as another life threatening health issue also drew the attention of participants.
The need to sustain the advocacy on the subject areas of focus according to the participants must continue to remain in the front burner of national health discourse.
Nigeria ranks 6th most infected nation in the world according to WHO 2020 Statistics, with over four hundred thousand tuberculousis recorded infections.
