Nigerians have been urged to support the Federal Government’s efforts in eradicating illicit circulation of small arms and light weapons in society.
The call was made by the Bauchi State Commissioner of Police, Umar Sanda, during the handing over of some recovered firearms by the Bauchi State Police Command.

This is following the approval by President Mohammadu Buhari’s administration, for the establishment of the National Centre For The Control of Small Arms and Light Weapons, to ensure an illicit arms-free nation.
It is in this regard that the Nigerian Police in Bauchi have succeeded in moping up the huge amount of firearms and ammunition from different individuals within and outside the state.

The Commissioner of Police, Umar Sanda, said the success was made through the joint effort between the police and other sister agencies.
During the handover ceremony, the command also paraded about thirty suspects, including a Nigerian Army personnel, who allegedly commits various offences, including kidnapping, armed robbery, and dealing on cannabis Sativa and other dangerous drugs.

CP Umar Sanda assured Bauchi residents of his command’s determination to ensure a crime-free society.
He urged them to support the police with useful and verifiable information, to succeed in the task of fighting crime and criminality in society.
