The nigerian communications satellite, nigcomsat is planning the launch of sat-2 and sat-3, to boost the country’’s satellite capacity, 11 years after sat-1r was launched in 2011 with life span of 15 years.
Some public affairs analysts in yenagoa, the bayelsa state capital, south-south nigeria, including emmanuel iwebor and victor imoisili kicked against the plan of investing into the satellite 2 project and urged the use of the funds for other public good.
Recently, nigcomsat announced the proposed launch of two new satellites, namely sat-2 and sat-3 in 2023 and 2025 respectively.
Meanwhile, sat-1 was de-orbited in 2011 after launching due to undisclosed reasons of its failure.
