Nigeria is set to receive the equivalent of approximately 120 million Naira from the United Kingdom, being the proceeds of the over £210, 000 fine imposed on a British energy firm, Amec Foster Wheeler Energy Limited, for bribery offences committed in Nigeria.

The United Kingdom Minister for Africa, Victoria Ford, announced this at a meeting with Nigeria’s Federal Attorney-General.

The UK’s Serious Fraud Office had found Amec Foster Wheeler Energy Limited, (AFWEL), guilty of using corrupt agents in the oil and gas sector from 1996 to 2014 in Nigeria and some other countries.

Abubakar Malami who was represented by the Acting Solicitor-General of the Federation, Benjamin Okolo, welcomed the move and assured that the funds will be used as outlined in the agreement, to finance ongoing capital projects being undertaken by the Federal Government.
