CROSS RIVER

A few hours after the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Cross River State declared Governor Wike of Rivers a security threat, the National Working Committee, NWC, of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has approved the nomination of the Rivers Governor as Chairman of the Cross River By-election Campaign Council.

Also to help in driving the campaign and managing the election is Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State as Co-chairman.

In a statement signed by the National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Debo Ologunagba on Tuesday evening, the party said that Nyesom Wike will lead the National Campaign Council/Election Management Team for the Ogoja/Yala Federal Constituency and Akpabuyo State Constituency bye-elections, scheduled for Saturday, February 26.

The statement further explained that, aside from Governor Emmanuel Udom of Akwa Ibom as Co-chairman, former Governors Liyel Imoke and Donald Duke, as well as all the three serving Senators from Cross River will be members, among others.

It may be recalled that Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State earlier on Tuesday, was declared a security threat by the APC Chairman in Cross River, saying that the people of the state will resist his coming, in the interest of peace.

The APC Chairman called on the Inspector-General of Police, Director of State Security Services and the National Security Adviser, to call Governor Wike to order, describing him as, “Meddlesome Interloper” in Cross River State politics.
